Gionee launched the battery-centric Marathon M5 (first impressions) smartphone with a 6,020mAh battery in India recently. Now the Chinese brand has launched a toned-down version of the phone called the Marathon M5 Lite in its home market. Similar to the other Marathon offerings, the M5 Lite boasts a beefy battery, rated at 4,000mAh in this case.
As per the company, the Marathon M5 Lite is capable of delivering up to 40 hours of talk time, three days of regular usage, a 39-day long standby time or 68 hours worth of music playback. In addition, the phone can also be used as a power bank to charge other devices via USB.
Coming to the other specs, the Marathon M5 Lite sports a 5-inch HD display, and runs Amigo 3.o, which uses Android 5.1 Lollipop as base. A 1.3GHz 64-bit quad-core MediaTek processor purrs under the hood, coupled with 1GB of RAM and a Mali T720 graphics processor. For storage, the handset gets 16GB of built-in memory, further expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. The camera specs include an 8MP autofocus rear snapper with an LED flash, and a 5MP front shooter. Connectivity-wise, it offers 4G LTE (Indian bands supported), Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, and micro-USB.
According to the company, the Gionee Marathon M5 Lite offers a premium design made out of aviation-grade aluminum alloy. The phone has been priced at CNY 999 (Rs 10,000 approx.).
