China-based smartphone maker OPPO introduced the R7 Plus (review) in May this year and launched the phone in India along with the R7 Lite in September. Now the brand has unveiled a beefed-up variant of the R7 Plus in China that comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage, as compared to 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage in the earlier model.
The other specs of the new OPPO R7 Plus variant remain the same. It offers a phablet-grade 6-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phablet is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, aided by an Adreno 405 GPU and 4GB of RAM. The 64GB storage can be augmented using a microSD card.
For imaging, there’s a 13MP rear snapper with a dual-LED flash, laser autofocus, a Sony IMX214 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, and an 8MP front shooter with f/2.4 aperture. The device comes with 4G LTE, dual hybrid SIM slots, Color OS 2.1 based on Android Lollipop, and a beefy 4,100mAh battery with VOOC Rapid Charge support.
The new variant also features a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security. The phone has been priced at 2,999 Yuan, which roughly converts to Rs 30,900, and comes gold. It’s up for pre-order on the company’s website in China, and will go on sale later this month.
